Now, with his granddaughter afflicted by the deadly hereditary disease known as the Flaming Suffering, Eranthir is forced to confront his painful past and venture into the world once more.
His journey brings him back to his old allies, but the time he spent away from the land of the Túatha Dé Danann has taken its toll on him. As a half-Tuatha Dé Danann and half-human, Eranthir was originally immortal and did not age, but his long stay away from his homeland has changed him. His former friends barely recognise him, aged and altered, and he must prove to them that he is indeed Eranthir – the warrior they once knew. But as he strives to regain the trust of his old companions, time is running against him: the Flaming Suffering is tightening its grip on Adriana, and every second lost could cost her life.
By Eranthir’s side is Aelarion, a loyal friend and direct descendant of the god Midir, the first king of the Túatha Dé Danann. Midir’s blood flows through his veins, and with it, the responsibility to preserve his people’s legacy. Aelarion fought alongside Eranthir in the first battle of Connacht before life and loss drove them in different directions. Now they are reunited, but in a world where former allies turn into enemies, even Aelarion’s royal status is no longer a guarantee of loyalty.
Joining them in their fight are Thalorian, the keeper of ancient knowledge, who struggles with a powerful but unpredictable force within him. He must learn to control these secret powers before they destroy him and everything he loves. Caladhorn, a master swordsman whose blade is swift and deadly, and Lirendor, whose watchful eye has saved the group from countless dangers, also accompany them. Together, they face a world where trust is fragile, and darkness threatens to swallow every beam of light.
They are supported by Aetherowen, the guardian and leader of the Celestial Hosts, whose unwavering determination and ancient wisdom provide invaluable support to the heroes. From the city of angels, Minjeron, Ailin, a white raven, also accompanies them, watching over the warriors as a sign of the divine. Ailin, a symbol of divine guidance, is more than just a companion – she is a shining star in the darkness, guiding the heroes when all other lights fade.
